Nigel: Gandalfe, I read your blog on Live Spaces regularly, through an aggregator. However, I don’t comment because you have to be a member to comment. I bet that cuts down on comments that you receive.
Gandalfe: Hmm… I got one comment from you as Nigel Tufnel (sp?). That is such a cool handle. ;o)
I suspect you are right about that though. I’ve had friends create accounts to they could be listed as a friend of the site and then forget the creds to that site because they never use it.
I’m loving this pit orchestra. Imagine that, nice musicians. You read about rude, harsh pros all the time. But most of these players are music majors like yourself and are the nicest people in the world. Even if you blow a solo like I did the first night of the run, they don’t mention it. I love these guys and gals but don’t expect to get another gig for a long time because saxes are rarely needed in theater musicals.
Nigel: Just so the joke is complete: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_Tufnel.
Gandalfe: Readers, here is small exerpt from the Wikipedia article referenced above: Nigel Tufnel is the lead guitarist of the rock band, Spinal Tap, featured in Marty DiBergi’s 1981 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. He is played by actor Christopher Guest.
His hobbies include collecting guitars (particularly noteworthy is his unplayed, unlooked-at foam-green six-string Fender Bass VI), critical analysis of rock band riders and hors d’oeuvres generally, hats, and tennis. Nigel has a great love for Gumby, carrying a figurine in his shirt pocket and wearing Gumby shirts frequently. He also plays mandolin and piano (having written the classical piece in D minor (which he says is the "saddest of all keys") provisionally entitled "Lick My Love Pump"), and does backing vocals. He is also a self-proclaimed "fish nut", liking cod and canned tuna because it has "no bones"
