Sax Chandelier – Oh the Humanity

This is a picture sent to me from Greg our bari/alto sax and bass clarinet player. "While I’m at it, here’s something I ran across in the SFO International terminal last week. I walked right by it the first time, not realizing what it was. Reminds me of the entry chandelier at the Hollywood Hard Rock Café, which is entirely constructed of saxophones."

Think of all the saxes that gave their lives for this piece of art!

Just makes me want to cry. The guitars, well they’re a dime a dozen.  ;o)

Now waitta minnit.  Guitars are not a dime a dozen (thus saith one who plays a guitar) although I must say, I have never seen such a display of sax!!  :-)

Actually I own many guitars including a bass guitar. Hmm… but I haven’t touched them in weeks.  ;o)

It does seem like a cruel place to visit.

  5. My name is Ernesto Aleman Director of Design & Engineering for E.L.A. Co. [Environmental Lighting for Architecture] I work for the company that designed and produce this chandelier. I do remember having some hard times to come up with the right design but with the help of the “Hard Rock Design team” we come with the proper scale and shape. I’m so proud for the final product because it looks phenomenal!! by the way, we also design and produce the big globe which is 16′ diameter across the rings, the globe is 8′ in diameter and is made of aluminum metal frame and fused glass panels [72 windows or panels in total] at the bottom of the main rings you can read part of the Beatles song “Across the Universe” which goes along with the theme. The door pulls at the Hard Rock cafes and Hotels [Las Vegas Nevada, Florida and the island of Guam] where made here as well and we carry the original “patterns”. I hope you can enjoy this value information.
