The Sax Garage Band Experience

I invited some of my friends to a sax quartet/quintet reading session. We ended up with six players counting my wife Suzy and me. I have so many charts I haven’t heard so there was plenty of music. Many of the players are doublers so there were multiple instruments everywhere.

We could have spent the day trying to get through the charts, but I had allocated 90 minutes and we actually played two hours. That meant that Micah had to call the ZipCar guys to extend his contract. Well, actually his girlfriend did it for us so that we could play on. She also took these pictures—thanks Leiszle!

We ended up turning the chairs towards the middle which facilitated conversation much more. And we had a great time, a common occurrence in the many sax xtet practice sessions I have attended. All in all, it was a very nice addition to a lazy Saturday afternoon. Thanks peeps!
