Amber’s Music Career :o)

Amber picked up the soprano sax turned to me and said, “How do you finger that middle Gb again?”

Anyway you want, honey.

The Three Saxmen

My son Aaron and his wife are visiting for Christmas. We have been playing sax almost every day.

Here is a picture of Aaron, my Grandson Nick (3d grade) and I:

‘You know I gave the kids candy all the time?’
‘Behind my back?’
‘Yes.’

Nicky the Grandson Saxman

Nicky is nine and he is learning to play sax. He has had three lessons from his grandpa (me). At a Christmas party he pulled out his alto sax and just started playing. It was quite musical considering that he only knows a few notes. I was impressed and he played for about 15 minutes while everyone else talked and drank punch.

I hired a quartet to play. The alto sax player was Colin and friend of mine who has helped me with my return to the sax. They were quite good and played much longer than the agreed upon time. I’m glad they decided to perform for this party.

Nicky is working on his fourth lesson. I should give him some assistance.

Gigging at Crossroads.

Saxman Gandalfe had a gig this noon at Crossroads on the eastside. Weese like Christmas music and the concert went well. People were singing and one person was crying during “Blue Ridge Autumn”. No because it was that good.

Then we had the Christmas party at my house. The food and drink was excellent and the company fun. Mom and Dad were there and poor Shelby (the German Shepard) could hardly handle the company in ‘her’ house. This playing sax after a 27 year hiatus really is paying off. And now Suzy is playing clarinet again.

Faith in the Key of G

Kenny G is playing in the background, his Faith CD with nice Christmas music. Shelby, my German Shep is laying at my feet and the fire is crackling in the fire place. I like the library, where we are now, because libraries were there before TVs for me. In the early 60s we lived one house down from the county library.

Welcome to the blog of random mutterings and semi coherent chatter from a saxman of little repute. Watch it, I may pull out my Couf Superba I alto and regale you with ‘Over the Rainbow’. Thanks for listening.
