For you power blogger wannabe’s…

Guy Kawasaki wrote this very interesting treatise on improving the value of your blog. Last year in a post called "The 120 Day Wonder: How to Evangelize a Blog" he provides a fair framework for making your blog a must read.

For example, number one is: "Think “book” not “diary.” First, a bit of philosophy: my suggestion is that you think of your blog as a "product." A good analogy is the difference between a diary and a book. When you write a diary, it contains your spontaneous thoughts and feelings. You have no plans for others to read it. By contrast, if you write a book, from day one you should be thinking about spreading the word about it. If you want to evangelize your blog, then think “book” not “diary” and market the heck out of it."

While you are at the site take the time to read Guy’s "A Brief History of Mine". Most of us don’t have these credentials. But all of us can learn given the time and inclination.

The only fault that I can readily see is that he isn’t a musician. But with all the stuff he has accomplished, I suppose I can get over that. Besides, if he decided he wanted to play the sax, he’d probably join the ranks of the many, many players who can kick my butt.  ;o)

This isn’t really a comment (not at all actually) on your blog item but I wanted to respond to the comments you’ve left on some of my blogs. I couldn’t figure out another way to do this (if you can enlighten me, I’d appreciate it.) I am grateful for your concern and messages of support. Yes, I’m doing music therapy. I have some really cool meditation & sound healing music on my iPod and ususally on my lunch break, I go sit in the car, put my earphones on and relax. Thanks for "friending" me 😉

Cheryl, Elaine (being the very smart person she is) figured out how to reach me using my contact card. I posted my e-mail address there for my friends and family to see. If you hover over my avatar, do you see a ‘view contact info’ drop down?

I can’t really check this conclusively but I wandered over to my wife’s computer and before she signs in she can not see my contact info. Once she signs in, she can see my e-mail address and phone numbers. Cool, huh?

Hang tough. Our prayers go out for you.

The article was instructive, and there are a few of the suggestions that I was doing anyway, which was nice to know.  As much as I like having visitors, and want to be interesting to them, I wouldn’t want to do some of the recommendations.  Thanks for the link, and info, though.

    Beth
