Small cars and bicycles – oh goody

I saw this race between the new (old) Fiat 500 and some BMX bicycle riders. With the prices of gasoline predicted to reach $4 this Summer, I expect to see many more small cars on the street. Indeed, mopeds are starting to be seen in greater numbers in the Redmond area where I live. So here’s this rather fanciful presentation of the race.

What if we can produce fuel for under $1.00/gallon? That was announced yesterday at the North American International Auto Show, big news here in Michigan. On Sunday, GM said it had invested in start-up biofuel company Coskata Inc, which has developed a commercially viable process to bring ethanol made from sources other than corn to market by 2011.
Coskata said it can make the new fuel from many carbon-rich sources — including old tires — for less than $1 a gallon. That would be about half the cost of making gasoline, and much cheaper than other next-generation biofuels.

We have ethanol being produced right here from our midwest corn and they can have all of the beans off my honey locust tree too, but I’ll bet gas will still reach $4 a gallon this summer.

Top Gear! I love my Jeremy, Richard and James – i often watch them as Bob watches the show frequently. I love the new 500 – she is so gorgeous, i want one!
For $4, you get about four litres of gas here – i don’t know how much a gallon is… We spend 75 euro’s on gas last saturday, i think it is for about 60 litres – but Bob would know that better.
    love, daphne

Daphne, that’s $15 a gallon! Do you mean dollars or pounds. Either way, that’s a horrible price for fuel.
Cassie, Suzy and I drove a Honda Accord when we were stationed in Europe. It was expensive even for an officer.
    Beth, I can hardly wait!
Elaine, do you think this will happen in our lifetime?  ;o)
Carole, I really get the feeling you are a fun person to be around.
