I’m going to say Clarinets. Perhaps in Bb and A.
My guess was a clarinet.
It is a clarinet, but a very rare one. Okay, here’s a clue. Think quarter tones.
Have to start by saying I don’t know clarinets… other than a brief introductions during my elementary years and drib or drabs of information and listening experience. I did a little research, based on your hint, and have come up with this:
Do you have one of Dr. R. H. Stein’s original quarter-tone clarinets?
Interesting that the two barrels (plumbing…) are of a different length – so the two sides produce different pitches. Is it one that you’ve bought ? Interesting pickup (?) under the ligature, or is it to switch sides with a twitch of the jaw ? Sound sample please…

All, this actually came up in a thread that started about Albert clarinets.
I hope you have enough breath and fingers for that thing.
Looks like you’d need some extra fingers to make that thing work. I wonder why it didn’t catch on. 😉
Gandalfe – Well, chocolates sure don’t hurt…lol…in moderation. My sweetheart and I already give, and share love, every day, so for me it is the chocolates…and for him it is a romantic dinner out that includes steak and potatoes. 😉
